FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU senior Amy Okonkwo has been selected by conference coaches to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, while fellow classmate Jordan Moore and junior Adeola Akomolafe earned honorable mention honors.
The 2017-18 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and an All-Big 12 Second Team honoree, Okonkwo led the Horned Frogs with 14.4 points per game last season. Her 519 points were the sixth-most in a single season in TCU history and she reached double figures in scoring in 27 contests, including eight games of 20 or more points.
A native of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Okonkwo is the second TCU player to ever be named to the preseason All-Big 12 Team, joining Zahna Medley who earned the honors in back-to-back seasons in 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Moore started 35 of TCU's 36 games a year ago, finishing second on the team with 13.0 points per game. She also led the Frogs with 6.8 rebounds per game, good for ninth in the Big 12.
The Round Rock, Texas, product earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades as a junior and was named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team after averaging 15.4 points per game in TCU's five-game run to the semifinals. Moore needs just 40 points this season to become the 18th player in school history with 1,000 career points.
A defensive stalwart for the Horned Frogs, Akomolafe played in 36 games as a sophomore with 22 starts, including the final eight games of the season. A 2017-18 Academic All-Big 12 selection, she shot 58.0 percent from the field and finished third on the team with 21 blocked shots.
TCU returns eight players, including all five starters, from last year's squad which posted 23 wins, its most since 2007-08, en route to advancing to the WNIT Semifinals.
The Horned Frogs earned their first top-25 ranking since 2010, while the nine Big 12 regular-season victories equaled their most in program history. TCU also advanced to the Big 12 Championship semifinal round for the first time.
TCU will open its season at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 6, against Duquesne at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.
