
Gray Signs with TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU men's tennis head coach David Roditi announced the signing of top British junior Alastair Gray to a National Letters of Intent on Friday with Gray set to join the team for the spring of 2017.
"We are very excited to welcome Alastair into our Horned Frog family. Alastair is a very good student and he wants to play professional tennis someday. We love that he is a student of the game and loves the process of getting better. He has a reputation is of being a hard-working, energetic and fun young man with a great attitude. He has a very aggressive game with a lot of different shots and can also play great doubles someday."
A Twickenham, England native, Gray has competed in the junior division of three of the four major grand slams and was ranked as high as No. 52 in the ITF junior rankings. Gray won the singles and doubles of the Junior National Tennis Championships in Nottingham in August and made it to the quarterfinals in singles at Nike Junior International Tournament in Roehampton this past summer.
Currently playing on the ITF Pro Circuit and in Futures events, Gray recently made it to the semifinals in singles at the Aegon GB Pro-Series in Barnstaple and the finals in doubles at the Aegon GB Pro Series in Sheffield. With the victories, Gray is currently ranked No. 1490 in singles in the ATP rankings and No. 1377 in doubles.
TCU returns eight letterwinners from a year ago that saw the team capture its first-ever Big 12 regular season and tournament championships and earn a final ITA ranking of No. 3. Cameron Norrie earned his second ITA All-America honor in singles and became the first player in TCU history to make the singles final four. The Frogs kick-off their spring season on Jan. 20 by traveling to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern.
