TCU Falls Short To No. 18 Ohio State

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 22 TCU women's tennis team dropped the Championship Match at the 2016 ITA Kick-Off Weekend to No. 18 Ohio State, 4-0, on Saturday at the indoor facility at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (1-1) played in a tight doubles battle, but the Buckeyes (4-0) used the momentum from gaining the doubles point to take three singles matches in straight sets for the overall team victory.
TCU battled with Ohio State in doubles, but the Buckeyes used early breaks to take the matches on courts one and three to secure the early 1-0 lead. The Frogs fell behind in the first sets on all courts and could not overcome the deficit and dropped matches at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 positions.
With the win, Ohio State earns the berth to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Madison, Wisc., on Feb. 5-8.

"I think it is natural for all of us to be disappointed. Obviously everyone that is playing in the indoor ITA Kick-Off Weekend wants to qualify and go through to the Sweet 16 but it didn't happen today. Ohio State is a great team and they beat a really great Pepperdine team yesterday and they came out and played really well today. I give them a lot of credit.
