TCU Continues Competition at FGCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 37 TCU men's tennis continued action at the FGCU Spring Invite on Saturday and posted numerous wins at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
No. 24 Cameron Norrie posted his second straight singles win over a ranked opponent, while the senior ranked duo of No. 20 Nick Chappell and Will Stein were able to get a win over the No. 52 ranked pair from LSU.
TCU opened the day with singles and doubles action against Ole Miss in the morning with the Horned Frogs going 5-3 in singles action and 1-3 in doubles action against the No. 31 ranked Rebels.
Along with Norrie's win over No. 80 Stefan Lindmark in Flight One, Chappell and No. 87 Guillermo Nuñez each nabbed victories. Chappell was able to take down Gustav Hasson, 6-1, 6-3, while Nuñez had to come back from dropping the first set to defeat Zvonimir Babic 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
The Frogs were able to score two more singles victories in Flight Three, with Facundo Lugones and Arnau Dachs sweeping both of their opponents. Lugones knocked off Joe Rogers 6-0, 6-4 and Dachs took out Zach Wilder 6-4, 6-5.
In doubles action against the Rebels, Nuñez and Dachs were the lone victors as the duo defeated Lindmark and Ricardo Jorge 7-5.
TCU also took on LSU and Florida Gulf Coast in doubles action in the afternoon, with the Frogs recording a perfect 7-0 result. Chappell and Stein notched the biggest victory of the day with a 6-4 win over No. 52 Tam Trinh and Eric Perez of LSU.
In Flight One, the No. 15 ranked duo of Norrie and Trevor paired up to take out an LSU duo, before Norrie switched up partners and paired with Nuñez to defeat a team from Florida Gulf Coast. Dachs led the way in Flight Two in doubles action by helping secure two of the three victories.
The Frogs will conclude competition at the invite with singles matches starting at 8 a.m., CT against FGCU and then ending the day with doubles matches against the Eagles and Ole Miss.
