FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis player Nick Chappell's run in the NCAA Singles Championship came to an end Wednesday morning, as the junior fell to No. 17 Winston Lin of Columbia 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the singles bracket at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Today's meeting marked the second time the two players have met up this season, with Chappell looking to revenge a three-set loss to Lin from March. The upset would not happen, as Lin increased his win streak to 22 and swept the Indianapolis native in the opening round.
No. 43 Chappell ends his singles' season with a 21-17 overall record, with five wins coming against ranked opponents.
Chappell and his doubles partner Will Stein will begin action at the NCAA Championships in the doubles portion starting tomorrow. The 11th ranked pair will take on the No. 3 seed Gonzalez Austin and Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt in the opening round.
