Recap | Final Stats | Notes
TCU Head Coach Jeff MitteOn Emily Carter's performance:
"I thought her big play was on the out-of-bounds play and we ended up getting it to her inside. She missed the first attempt, fought and got it back. She then got the basket and one. They guarded her pretty well and they've got some length too. We thought coming in that they were going to guard her with Chaundra Sewell and guard her with some size. There is a small window of opportunity for her to get a three on certain plays. They covered those up, but she drove it on the right angle. She was able to get a couple of really big plays. They made a run to get it to six, a run to get it to five and she answered both of those runs. Our group did a great job. We made some runs and when they made a run at us, we had an answer for them."
On the game in Wyoming versus the game today:
"Well we shot 52 percent and we shot the ball really well up there. I think this Wyoming team has been playing great and I thought they played solid today. We both shot pretty consistently, right around the 40 percent mark. Every game is different and you can't get caught up in that we won by 21. That was a game where we played fantastic, moved into all the right spots and made a huge run in the second half. It got away from them. You knew today wasn't going to be the same kind of game. It was exactly like I thought it would be."
On the physicality of the game:
"Hillary Carlson is a physical post and Chaundra Sewell is pretty physical. Aubrey Vandiver plays with an aggressiveness about her. There is just going to be some tie-ups and some physical play down there. I think most of the time in this league you know you're going to get some pretty physical play.
TCU Sophomore Starr Crawford
On her play during the game:
"I think I try to play aggressively for the most part. Overall, I'm a physical player, so contact is my thing. I like the whole jump ball thing and fighting for a rebound. If I stay consistent throughout the whole game then it will just work out."
TCU Senior Emily Carter
On her play at the end of the game:
"I was actually trying to be more aggressive and get to the rim more. My outside shots weren't falling and I knew it was a crucial part in the game where it was close. I knew we needed to break it before the 4-minute mark. I was trying to be more aggressive and I just took what they gave me. They gave me some lay-ups, so I got some open shots."
On forcing turnovers:
"Chaundra Sewell was dribbling and I know she's not their point-guard. She seemed a little out of control and was going really fast. I knew if I went up on her she wasn't really going to have anywhere to go, she couldn't stop. I just got my hand on it and she had to throw it, which made the ball go high and out of bounds."
