Attendance: 4,554
Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair
On team's overall performance:
"During the first half, I loved our defense, but didn't like our offense. During the second half, I loved our offense, but didn't like our defense. Other than that, my bigs were very active. We've been shooting the ball poorly in the first half, as you can tell by (Sydney) Carter's stats. She was 1-of-9 and Tyra (White) wasn't a whole lot better. I thought Kelsey Bone gave us some good minutes and Karla Gilbert came in and finished it up. Seventeen rebounds from the five position and 12 from the four position, I thought we were very active there."
TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On second half run:
"It seemed like an uphill climb most of the day. It seemed like every time we had a chance to get it to seven, get it to six, we'd have a turnover. We just had plenty of opportunities and we couldn't get over the hump."
On the missed opportunities:
"I thought there were a ton of wasted chances because I don't think A&M was real sharp today either, but my concern is not A&M being sharp. I thought we had opportunities, but we didn't convert. We could not get our guards to control the ball well enough. Antoinette Thompson struggled early in the game. We knew that she was going to have a lot of pressure on her today because not only did she have to bring the ball up, then she's got to make the decision to deliver it. She struggled most of the first half. I thought she battled better in the second half."
On coming back after being outrebounded by 21:
"You cannot give up 21 offensive rebounds and have that type of rebound margin. We shot 50 percent in the second half and lost ground. That's because they end up with 64 shots to our 56. They got to the free throw line seven more times and because of that our margin for error was very slim. We can't continue to give up that many offensive rebounds. They have a size advantage and are one of the bigger teams in the country, but we knew that going in. We just couldn't secure the ball like we needed to."
