With the win, the nationally ranked Horned Frogs moved to 3-0 on the season, marking only the third time under head coach Jeff Mittie that the Frogs have opened the year with three-consecutive victories. The Roadrunners dropped to 2-1 on the young season following the loss.
Three different Frogs scored in double figures, including sophomore Starr Crawford, who posted her third-straight double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. Senior Emily Carter followed up her 43-point showing Wednesday night, scoring a game-high 22 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field.
Fellow senior and All-America candidate Helena Sverrisdottir also had a solid night for the Frogs, netting 18 points, while sophomore forward DeLisa Gross, who ignited a 9-0 run in the first half on a backdoor layup, pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds, including a game-high four offensive boards, to go with eight points.
Carter, who saw her streak of 60-straight free throws end in San Antonio in the second half moved into No. 2 all-time in the NCAA record books for consecutive free throws made. The Louisiana native tied former Penn State great Adrienne Squire, who connected on 60-straight between 2004-06.
The Roadrunners cut the lead to 11 midway through the second half on some hot shooting by UTSA's Alysse Davis before Carter connected on a three-pointer of her own from the top of the key. TCU never looked back as Crawford scored six-straight points to push TCU's lead back to 75-53 with 4 minutes, 33 seconds left to play.
The Frogs moved their lead to 10 halfway through the first half, using constant pressure to force nine turnovers and grab seven steals in the first period of play. The lead turned to 15 points late in the half when Meagan Henson, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., found a cutting Sverrisdottir, who connected on a three-point play.
The Purple and White, who used two major runs midway through the first period to break the game wide open, shot over 50 percent in the first half, including going 4-of-7 from three-point range. The Frogs led by 19 at the break.
TCU will head to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the 11th annual Paradise Jam next week. The Frogs will begin action on Thursday, Nov. 25 against No. 10 West Virginia.
