POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 87, SMU 73 (2OT)
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Nov. 17, 2010
Attendance: 2,707
TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
How he would characterize the game:
"It just seemed like it was a really odd night. A lot of odd, ugly basketball early on tonight. Seventeen turnovers in the first half is just atrocious. I don't know if there's any other reason we won this game besides that we just battled like crazy all night long. At times it just seemed like we wanted to play offense just as bad as we were playing defense. We didn't play real smart tonight, but 64 boards. I don't know the last time we out rebounded somebody by 20."
On Emily Carter's performance:
"Obviously, Emily Carter had a special night and I thank God she wears purple. It was certainly Emily's night and Starr cleaned up the glass for us."
On the team as a whole:
"This group has not faced adversity. The scrimmages are such a controlled situation that you don't go through the hills and valley's of a game. I was really proud of this group. I thought they showed some maturity and didn't get frustrated. I was frustrated in yesterday's practice and I thought obviously the players did a great job correcting that tonight."
Senior Guard Emily Carter
On her career night:
"I wasn't aware of the points or the record. I was feeling it the whole night and I did not want to lose. I wanted the ball in my hands and when I had a shot that I thought was a good shot, I was going to take it. Luckily, most of them went in tonight, but I am just thankful for my teammates for getting the ball to me at the right time with the right spot. That's just how it all happened."
On playing SMU:
"I was excited and ready. I've been thinking about this game since last season was over. It's just a rivalry. This is just a team we have to beat. That's how I've been feeling all week, waiting around to play."
Sophomore Forward Starr Crawford
On her rebounding tonight:
"Rebounding is kind of what I do. So for me not rebounding would have been a let down for the team. Because I couldn't capitalize at the free throw line tonight, I knew I had to get every single rebound because that's how I was going to help the team win."
