FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU volleyball head coach Prentice Lewis announced that Meghan Horio has agreed to walk on to the squad in the fall. Horio joins four other athletes that will make up the 2009 freshman class.
"Meghan will be a great addition to our program," said Lewis. "She has great experience at multiple positions at a high level of club volleyball. We look forward to seeing her progress over the next four years."
A native of Los Alamitos, Calif., Horio has been a two-year standout at Los Alamitos High School. Horio was a second-team all-league selection as a senior and helped lead her squad to a second straight Sunset League title. In addition to her success on the volleyball court, she was a three-time scholar-athlete honoree before being named the Top Scholar-Athlete in the Los Alamitos girl's volleyball program.
Horio has also excelled at the club level and has participated in the Junior Olympics each of the last six years. Twice her squad has finished second in the tournament, once as a member of the Cal Jrs. 12 Elite club team and again with the Mizuno Long Beach 16 team.
Horio will be a freshman next season. She joins a class that also features Kelli Stewart, Emily Kirby, Sloane Sunstrum and Makenzie Smith.
