Harkins Snares MWC Weekly Honor

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Senior Macall Harkins was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. The award marks the fifth in the senior's career and is the third nod for the Frogs this season
Harkins, a senior from Palos Verdes, Calif., won three singles matches and a pair of doubles matches last week as No. 27 TCU defeated No. 47 Utah (6-1), No. 59 BYU (4-3) and New Mexico (7-0) to go 3-0 in conference play.
At No. 1 singles, Harkins tallied straight set victories over Utah's Anastasia Putilina (6-2, 6-0), BYU's 96th-ranked McCall Jones (6-0, 6-4) and New Mexico's Ola Abou-Zekry (6-2, 6-4).
At No. 1 doubles, Harkins teamed with Kayla Duncan to beat Utah's Erin Monson and Andrea Maughan (8-3) and New Mexico's Abou-Zekry and Emma Hayman (8-1).
Harkins and the Frogs will now prepare conclude the MWC schedule against Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming in Albuquerque, N.M., April 9-10.
