Horned Frogs reach historic conference milestone
FORT WORTH – In a showdown between two rivals that was forced to move inside due to weather, the TCU women's tennis team defeated Baylor, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (15-2, 8-1 Big 12) was able to rebound and clinch the doubles point for the first time in three matches. After singles play was temporarily halted due to rain in the Fort Worth area, the match was moved to the indoor courts. The Frogs were able to keep up the energy and secure the necessary three courts needed to win the match.
In unsurprising fashion, Cayetana Gay delivered the singles clincher, moving her season record to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in conference matches. Yu-Chin Tsai extended her unbeaten mark in singles to 12-0 on the year and has won the last two matches at the No. 3 spot in singles play.
With its eighth win in Big 12 play. TCU has recorded its most Big 12 wins in a single season in program history with four conference matches remaining. The previous record of seven was achieved three times before but has now been surpassed by this momentous season.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
TCU found a way to clinch the doubles point behind some impressive efforts on courts one and three.
Baylor got the winning started on the middle court in doubles play, but Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai would quickly respond with a 6-2 showing against Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas to make the doubles point come down to the final court.
Tomi Main and Cayetana Gay lived up to the occasion once again, delivering a 6-4 clinching blow over Luna Ivkovic and Kennedy Gibbs to obtain the 1-0 lead heading into singles action.

Order of Finish: 2, 1, 3
SINGLES RUNDOWN
One of the staples of the season has been TCU's depth in singles play, and today showed no different. Victories were gained on courts three, five and six by the Frogs that would prove beneficial enough to take down the Bears.
About midway through singles play, a rain shower appeared over the purple courts and singles play was temporarily stopped. The match was moved inside after a short delay, and play resumed with only the top five courts playing.
Tsai was fundamentally sound on court three, defeating Mu-Jie Tzeng by a score of 6-0, 6-2 to take a 2-0 lead. However, Baylor would shorten the deficit to win after a triumph on court two.
Jennifer Jackson, the impressive freshman who has been clutch at numerous points throughout the entire season, reeled in a 6-3, 6-4 showing over Ivkovic. The Spicewood, Texas, native sits tied for fourth on the team for dual singles wins this year after her win this afternoon.
With the match at 3-1 in favor of TCU, Gay put together yet another match clincher on court six, defeating Gabrielle Villegas, 6-0, 7-6(4) to end the match against the Bears and make the Frogs victorious.
Cristina Ramos Sierra and Raquel Caballero Chica were locked into competitive third-set battles before the match was ended by guy and those results went unfinished.
