Horned Frogs drop second match of Big 12 play
FORT WORTH – On a bright and sunny Thursday afternoon, the 22nd-ranked TCU women's tennis team was defeated by Utah, 4-3, at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (15-3, 8-2 Big 12) found early success after winning the double point but was unable to find the three courts needed to secure the victory against the Utes. After grabbing a 3-1 lead during singles play, Utah won three straight courts to take the match.
Cayetana Gay extended her win streak to 10 in singles dual matches today, and Jennifer Jackson added another score for the Frogs with a triumph on court six. There was a large amount of fight today from the Frogs, who are 8-2 in Big 12 play and in prime position to make some noise over the next few weeks.

Raquel Caballero Chica and Yu-Chin Tsai recorded the first victory of the afternoon, defeating Emma Kamper and Emmie Moore, 6-3. Tomi Main and Gay were able to clinch the doubles point in favor of the Frogs, taking down Dylan Lolofie and Kamea Medora in a dominant 6-2 showing.

SINGLES RUNDOWN
In a clash between two tough and talented Big 12 programs, Utah was just able to edge out TCU in singles play to secure the overall match. The first two courts to finish were split, and then the Utes would take three of the final four matches to secure the needed 4-3 score.
Gay continued her excellence at the No. 6 court, defeating Hayley Roberts, 6-2, 6-3, to give the TCU a two-point lead after the first match in singles play.
The Utes would quickly answer and bring the deficit back within one, as Kaila Barksdale took down Cristina Ramos Sierra, 6-4, 6-4. Jackson pulled together a gritty 6-4, 6-4 two-set victory versus Valletta to put TCU right on the doorstep.
After going up 3-1, the tide shifted and momentum unfortunately did not go in TCU's favor. The Utes picked up three straight wins on the top three courts to secure the road comeback victory and take the match over the Frogs.
