Fast Start
With a 4-0 start to open the season, the Frogs have matched the best opening to a season, something that has been done twice. In 2002, the Frogs won their opening four games before falling to Houston. The same occurred in 2006 as TCU won four straight before dropping a five-set match at UT-Arlington.
Will This Be It?
Needing just two aces when the season started to set a new career record for aces, Nirelle Hampton has inched closer to the mark. She tallied an ace against UMKC and now needs just one more to be the all-time leader.
Strong Contributions
The new faces have been huge contributors in the Frogs undefeated start to the season. As a group, they have tallied 58 kills, 12 aces, 56 digs and seven blocks. They are averaging 4.46 kills per game and have an attack percentage of .320.
Fast Start: Take 2
The Frogs have tallied sweeps in three of their first four matches and have dropped just one set all season. Comparing the other two seasons in which the Frogs started 4-0, they have had an even more successful start. In 2002, TCU dropped two sets in route to the great start and in 2006, the Frogs lost four sets.
Hitting On All Cylinders
As a team, TCU is hitting .353, which is tops in the league. The Frogs have notched 190 kills on 394 swings with just 51 errors. The next closest team to the Frogs in the rankings is Utah hitting at a .281 clip. The Frogs mark of 14.62 kills per game is also tops in the league.
Streaking!
A couple of Horned Frog have impressive games played streaks heading into this season. Nirelle Hampton has played in every match in her career which spans 104 matches. She is on pace to hold the record if she plays in all 32 matches. With a game played last Friday, Kourtney Edwards crack ed the top 10 with 67 consecutive matches played. She is currently at 70 straight.
Road Warriors
The Horned Frogs will log a lot of miles this season as they play 20 of their 32 matches away from Fort Worth. All added up the Frogs will log approximately 15,399 travel miles this season.
The Frogs On TV
TCU will make three appearances on national television this season. The Frogs Oct. 23 home match against San Diego State will air on The Mtn. The Oct. 31 match at BYU will be on BYU-TV. The TV schedule finishes up on Nov. 2 at Utah on CBS-College Sports.
