
TCU women's tennis faces tough road tests starting Wednesday

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 39 TCU women's tennis team will travel to Fresno, Calif., to take on No. 42 South Florida on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT, followed by a match against No. 13 Fresno State on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT. The Frogs are currently 7-4, riding a three-match winning streak, while the Bulls and Bulldogs are both 7-2 on the season.
The Frogs are currently in the middle of a six-match road trip, cruising through the first three matches by a combined score of 20-1. The women's last action took place on March 7, with a 7-0 sweep of No. 55 SMU. USF and Fresno State are also coming off of 7-0 victories against Wyoming and Virginia Tech, respectively.
TCU features three players who are ranked nationally in singles play. Ana Cetnik leads the way at No. 37, followed by Nina Munch-Soegaard at No. 84 and Anna Sydorska at No. 104. The doubles tandem of Cetnik and Sydorska is also ranked No. 7 in the country.
Fresno State also has three ranked singles players in Melanie Gloria (No. 3), Renata Kucerkova (No. 59) and Anastasia Petukhova (No. 70). The Bulldog duo of Kucerkova and Petukhova is tabbed as 54th-best in the nation. South Florida has two ranked singles players in Shadisha Robinson (No. 18) and Courtney Vernon (No. 71), and the No. 26 doubles duo of Gabriela Duch and Robinson.
The Frogs have been led by the recent play of Sydorska and Kewa Nichols. After dropping her first two matches of the season, Sydorska has reeled off nine consecutive singles victories, while Nichols has strung together five straight wins.
