
Simon pulls upset to advance to quarterfinals

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Adrian Simon, a freshman on the TCU men's tennis team, advanced to the singles quarterfinals on Thursday at the USA F28 Futures tournament in Waikoloa, Hawaii, after knocking off the tournament's No. 2 seeded player.
Simon defeated Alexander Satschko of Germany in the round of 16 by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Satschko currently holds a world ranking of No. 322 and was ranked as high as No. 260 earlier this year.
TCU senior Cosmin Cotet fell in the round of 16 to No. 4 Carsten Ball (AUS) by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Cotet has recorded a 7-3 mark this fall playing in Futures events.
The Horned Frog duo of Cotet and Simon also fell short in doubles play, dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to the No. 3 seeded team of Ball (AUS) and Rizza (USA) in the semifinals.
