16th-ranked TCU women's tennis defeats Wyoming, 4-0

SAN DIEGO - The TCU women's tennis team moved one step closer to the Mountain West Conference championship by downing Wyoming 4-0 on Thursday evening. The Frogs return to action on Friday at 4 p.m. (CDT) when they take on the winner between fourth-seeded San Diego State and fifth-seeded New Mexico.
"I thought we played a very good match today," stated TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "I think playing here in San Diego, the facility we are playing at and the speed of the courts is very good for us. We just have to keep playing well, that is the primary focus of our tennis right now."
The 16th-ranked tandem of senior Helena Besovic and junior Ana Cetnik picked up the first win of the match with an 8-3 victory over Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski at No. 1. Besovic and Cetnik have yet to surrender a doubles contest in MWC play.
Sophomores Nicole Leimbach and Kewa Nichols clinched the doubles point and a 1-0 advantage in the contest with an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 over Michelle Brown and Jamie Nelson.
Freshman Anna Sydorska, currently ranked 93rd in the ITA singles poll and the 2006 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 over House to give the Frogs a 2-0 lead.
17th-ranked Leimbach downed Rowinski 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 to move TCU within one point of clinching the match and a semifinal appearance.
Nichols clinched for the Frogs with a strong 6-0, 6-0 performance versus Nelson at No. 5 for her eighth conference win of the season.
With the win, TCU improved to 19-6 overall.
