
No. 41 TCU takes down No. 30 San Diego, 4-1

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 41 TCU men's tennis team extended its win streak to four matches after a 4-1 win over No. 30 San Diego Sunday afternoon. Junior Radu Barbu posted wins in singles and doubles play.
"I am really happy with the way we played this weekend," stated TCU head coach Joey Rivé. "To come back after losing doubles was a real testament to our team and there was no quit throughout."
San Diego claimed an early 1-0 lead by taking two-of-three doubles matches. The tandem of Pierrick Ysern and Thomas Liversage knocked off Rafael Abreu and Jacopo Tezza at No. 1. Oscar Plotnik and Jonas Mouly clinched the doubles point for San Diego with an 8-6 victory over Kriegler Brink and Jordan Freitas.
TCU's Cosmin Cotet and Radu Barbu won 8-4 at No. 3 over Mirza Koristovic and Chris Coetzee.
The Frogs knotted the match at one after Cotet defeated Plotnik 6-2, 6-3 on court No. 3. The match tally moved to 2-1 in favor of the Horned Frogs after Barbu posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5 over Ryo Sekiguchi.
Sophomore Andrei Mlendea pulled the Frogs within one point of clinching the match with a 6-1, 7-6 triumph at No. 2 over Koristovic.
Tezza clinched the match and the fourth-straight victory for the Frogs with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Liversage. Tezza is currently 4-0 in singles play.
TCU returns to action on Friday when it hosts Denver. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
