FORT WORTH, Texas - With the 2006 soccer season coming to an end less than a month ago, the TCU soccer team is already hard at work preparing for the 2007 season by conditioning and lifting weights four days a week.
"Personally, I love the training because it makes you feel good," goalkeeper Kelsey Vross said. "We are seeing results from the training and it's just a terrific feeling to know we are accomplishing something."
With the exception of an off day every Wednesday, the Horned Frogs are training for two hours Monday - Friday with strength and conditioning coach Joe Walker. Twice a week, a small group of players will work on keeping their soccer skills sharp by working out with the coaching staff.
"The training is much more intense than anything we did in high school," midfielder Michelle Nguyen said. "Training is tough and I've been sore for the last few days, but the thought of knowing I am getting better keeps me going and makes me want to continue to push myself.
"I think we are fitter. Everyone is willing to push themselves to get better and it is good to see everyone working and determined to improve."
TCU will resume offseason training following winter break in January as it continues to prepare for next season.
