FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis head coach Dave Borelli announced the signing of Zach Nichols to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Nichols, the No. 1 player in Texas, will begin play for the Frogs as a freshman in the fall.
"Getting Zach is an important key to the start of my program here," said Borelli. "He's a wonderful kid, who was recruited heavily by Texas and Texas A&M, and I'm very excited to have him become a Frog."
Nichols was the No. 1 player in Boy's 16 in Texas in 2005 and also No. 1 in Boy's 18 in 2006. Nationally, Nichols has reached as high as No. 12 in singles and No. 4 in doubles rankings.
A native of Austin, Texas, Nichols attends Lake Travis High School and is the brother of junior women's tennis player, Kewa Nichols.
"The main thing that drew me to TCU was the opportunity to come in and play a major impact in building this program from the ground up," said Nichols. "Coach Borelli is one of the top coaches in the country, and I'm very excited to play under him, and let him help me develop into a better player."
