DALLAS -- The TCU Lady Frogs (3-5) turned a 14-point first-half deficit into a 79-68 victory Tuesday night in Dallas over the SMU Mustangs (3-7). It marked TCU's fourth consecutive win over SMU and was its largest margin of victory in its five all-time wins on the Mustangs' home court.
The Mustangs were able to steadily increase their lead to 26-12 with 10:25 remaining in the first half after a pair of free throws by Katy Cobb. TCU responded by outscoring SMU 25-12 in the final 10 minutes to trail 38-37 at the break.
Two Sarah Davis free throws gave the Mustangs a 50-45 advantage with 12:47 to go in the game. What followed was a 25-6 tear by the Lady Frogs that spanned 7:55 to put them up 70-56 with 4:52 remaining.
Vanessa Clementino scored the first eight points of TCU's run, coming on two threes and a couple of charity tosses. She finished the game with 14 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Another eight came courtesy of Lorie Butler-Rayford, who finished with 17 to lead the Lady Frogs.
Natasha Lacy and Adrianne Ross were TCU's other 10-plus scorers with 14 and 10. Moneka Knight recorded a career-high eight points and was 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.
TCU shot over 70 percent at the line for the first time this season, making 22-of-28 for a 78.6 percent clip. The Lady Frogs also connected on a season-best nine threes, and their 43.6 percent (24-of-55) shooting was the second highest of the year.
SMU was led by Katie Gross' game-high 22 points. She connected on 6-of-8 three-pointers and added seven boards as well. Sarah Davis reached double figures with 11 and Janielle Dodds had 10.
The Lady Frogs were able to win the rebound battle 36-35 after being out-rebounded 25-19 in the first half. TCU also committed just 13 turnovers while forcing 19.
Next up on TCU's schedule is a home tilt with Arkansas State at 7 p.m. CST on Thursday in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
