FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU women's soccer junior Karissa Hill was named second-team all-Mountain West as a defender this past weekend in Las Vegas. Hill is the first Horned Frog to receive all-conference recognition this season. Also earning postseason recognition was midfielder Bara Gunnarsdottir, who was named to the ESPN The Magezine's second-team Academic District 6 team.
In her junior campaign, Hill impressed league coaches with her strong defensive play. She finished the season with a goal and two assists. The native of Mansfield, Texas holds the distinction of scoring the first Frog goal of the season in a 4-0 win over Texas Tech in the season opener. For Hill, the defender position was a new one as she had been a midfielder her previous two seasons. As a freshman, she was named third-team all-Conference USA.
Gunnarsdottir is the first Horned Frog soccer player to earn Academic All-District 6 honors in school history. She is on pace to graduate in May with degrees in computer science, math and sociology. When Gunnarsdottir came to TCU in 2001, she became the first International player to be a member of the women's soccer team. She appeared in 66 games in her career.
The Frogs' season came to an end on Nov. 2 as they lost to eventual tournament champion UNLV. The Frogs finished the season with a 6-11-0 record.
