TCU men's tennis coach Joey Rive' announced the 2005-06 season earlier this week. Six invitationals highlight the fall season and the team has 23 dual matches for the spring. The Horned Frogs play 13 of their dual matches at home, 10 on the road or neutral sites and four of the opponents competed in the NCAA Championships a season ago. As all the other intercollegiate sports at TCU, the tennis team will begin its first season as a member of the Mountain West Conference.
The fall season, which is already under way, has seen competitive play from the Frogs and has been a great indication of the level of play expected this season.
"All of the work the team has put in has been great so far," states Rive. "The most impressive part has been the work done with strength and conditioning." This team should be able to do great things this season.
TCU opened its fall season with the University of Texas Invitational and the Frogs head to Midland Texas this week to compete in the Midland Invite. The fall season closes on Nov. 4 at the ITA National Indoor Championships.
On Jan. 20, the Frogs begin spring play in College Station, Texas, at the Rice Invitational. The squad remains in the "Lone Star" state for the next month, which includes a match versus LSU, who competed in the NCAA Championships last year.
A tough two-match stretch awaits the Frogs as they hit the courts against Baylor on Mar. 7 and Texas A&M on Mar. 22. Afterwards, conference play will be in full tilt for the next month.
The conference tournament will be Apr. 20-23 in San Diego, Calif.
