Golf Drops Down One to Eighth

TEMPE, ARIZ. - The TCU women's golf team is in eighth place among 16 schools after the second round of the competitive PING/ASU Invitational. TCU shot an 18-over-par 306 Saturday, and the Horned Frogs are 22 strokes behind team leader California (581) through 36 holes.
Senior Shannon Barr and Junior Brooke Tull are tied for 17 after the second round. Barr shot a 76 on the second day. Barr is looking for her eighth career top 20 finish. Tull shot a 77 after posting an even-par score of 72 in the first round.
Freshman Stephanie Godare moved up for a share of 33rd place shooting a 75. Sophomore D'Rae Ward is tied for 58th after she shot a 79. Freshman Traci Robison stayed tied at 71st after carding a 78.
The nation's top-ranked player, Arizona's Erica Blasberg, and 13 of the top 35 teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Rankings, are in attendance. The 16-team field includes host (No. 4) Texas, (No. 5) USC, (No. 6) Arizona, (No.9) California, (No. 11) New Mexico, (No. 15) Tulsa, (No. 16) UCLA, (No. 17) Washington, (No. 26) New Mexico State, (No. 27) Stanford, (no. 29) Arizona State, and (No. 32) TCU, as well as Oregon State, San Jose State, Oregon and Northern Arizona. The individual field is just as impressive, featuring 13 of the top 25 players in the country.
The 54-hole tournament is being played on the par-72, 6,183-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course. The PING/ASU Invitational has been held each year since the 1965-66 season. Play will finish with 18 holes on Sunday.
