FORT WORTH, Texas - The Horned Frogs open up the spring portion of the 2002-03 season on Friday, Jan. 24 as they host Conference USA foe Saint Louis at 3:00 p.m. Due to the projected cold weather, the squads will face off at the indoor courts of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center located on the TCU campus. This is the first meeting between the two schools.
TCU enters the season ranked No. 29 by the ITA in its preseason poll released on January 13. During 2003, the Frogs will compete against 13 teams ranked in the preseason top 75, including three in the top 25.
In addition to the team's top 25 ranking, the Frogs boast one individual and one doubles team in the national rankings as well. Junior Paty Aburto will work to move up from her no. 125 ranking. She is also ranked 13th in the Southwest Regional rankings. Aburto and senior Rosa Perez make up the no. 30 doubles team. The duo begins the team season ranked third in the region for the second year in a row.
Head coach Dave Borelli is in his first season at the helm of the TCU women's tennis team. He has a 302-45 career coaching mark over 14 seasons, good for a .870 winning percentage. Borelli led USC's women's tennis teams to seven national championships during his tenure there.
Former Frog tennis player Lauri Moore is in her fifth season as assistant coach for the program.
