TCU Heads To NCAA Tourney

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The fourth-ranked TCU men's tennis team earned the No. 5 seed for the 2001 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships announced by the NCAA selection committee this afternoon. Sixty-four teams will compete in the tournament, which is divided into 16 regional sites.
TCU will host one of the 16 regional championships being held May 12-13 at the Bayard H Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The Frogs will face the University of Texas-Arlington in the first round at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. Baylor and Tulane will compete in the second match, which will begin at approximately 2 p.m. The championship match will be played on Sunday, May 13 at 12 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Georgia on May 19-28.
Admission for the regional championships will be $5 for adults and $3 for children. Gates will open at 9 a.m. For more information on the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, including driving directions, go to http://www.tennis.tcu.edu.
Seniors Esteban Carril and Trace Fielding will also compete in the individual singles competition at the NCAA Championships. Fielding will team with sophomore Jimmy Haney in the doubles as well.
