Lady Frogs Hang 120 Points on Denmark Squad

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Lady Frogs put on a clinic on Saturday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, dominating Abyhoj (Denmark) by a final score of 120-50 in an exhibition contest. TCU had six players, including four newcomers, tally double figures in points in the 70-point rout.
Junior Grace Gantt led the way for the Frogs, netting a game-high 20 points in her first contest at TCU. Gantt was followed in the scoring column by three first-year Frogs: freshman Ashley Browning (17), junior Candace Baldwin (16) and freshman Sandora Irvin (15). Returners Ebony Shaw and Ashanti Nix had 15 and 11 points respectively.
The Frogs scorched the nets by connecting on 13-of-19 three-point attempts (.684) and shooting .639 from the floor for the game (46-of-72). Baldwin was a perfect 8-for-8 shooting on the night, while Gantt had just one miss in eight field goal attempts. Browning was 4-of-5 from behind the arc, while Nix was 3-for-3 from long range.
TCU also outrebounded Abyhoj 42-to-26 during the contest. Irvin and senior Kati Safaritova tied for the team lead with eight rebounds apiece. The Frogs opened the game with an impressive 62-point first half and took a 62-24 lead into intermission.
The Lady Frogs tip off the regular season on Friday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m. with a game against Sam Houston State. It is the opening match of a doubleheader, as the TCU men follow with their season opener against Northwestern State at 8:05.
