TCU to Play in NCAA Women's Golf Championships

Tournament Field
The field includes 24 teams, 11 from the East Region and 13 from the West
Region, plus six individuals.
West Region -- Arizona, San Jose State, USC, Arizona State, TCU, Stanford,
Oregon, Pepperdine, Texas, Tulsa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico State.
East Region -- Duke, Northwestern, Purdue, Tennessee, LSU, Michigan State,
Wake Forest, Auburn, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida.
Individuals -- Maria Bolden, Oklahoma State; Carrie Summerhays, Brigham Young;
Kristen MacLaren, UTEP; Marcy Newton, North Carolina; Sharon O'Neill,
Campbell; Jennifer Perri, Furman.
Tournament Format
The tournament will consist of four rounds, one each to be played on
Thursday thru Sunday, May 24-25-26-27. Five golfers will compete for each
school with the four lowest scores each round counting toward the team
total.

Last Time Out
The Frogs were led in that event by Angela Stanford, who finished in a tie
for fourth. That was her seventh top-25 finish of the season. Additionally,
Lori Sutherland finished tied for 34th, Jennifer Patterson placed tied for
38th and Shannon Barr finished in a tie for 46th. Brenda Anderson completed
the event in a tie for 120th.
Player Notes
Lori Sutherland (Sophomore-1L) - the sophomore is second on the team with a
77.7 scoring average... she has three top-10 finishes this season... she
tied for 34th place in the NCAA West Regional.
Jennifer Patterson (Sophomore-1L) - the sophomore is third on the team with
a 78.15 scoring average... she has one top-10 finish this season... she tied
for 38th place in the NCAA West Regional.
Shannon Barr (Freshman-HS) - the WAC Freshman of the year has a scoring
average of 78.4... she finished tied for 46th in the NCAA West Regional,
shooting a career-best 18-hole score of 70 (2nd round) and a 54-hole total
of 227.
Brenda Anderson (Junior-2L) - the lone junior has a 80.04 scoring
average... earned Academic All-American honors last year.
Angie Ravaioli-Larkin, the 1998 Western Athletic Conference co-coach of the
year, is in her sixth season as the TCU women's golf coach. The former SMU
standout was named the Horned Frogs head coach in August, 1994.
Ravaioli-Larkin was a two-time all-Southwest Conference performer before
turning pro in August, 1989. Larkin has coached TCU to three berths in
the NCAA Championship, with the most recent being last season. In her
playing career at SMU, Ravaioli-Larkin played in two championship
tournaments. She finished 37th in the 1989 NCAA Championships with a
two-hole score of 312. She also finished 70th in the 1986 NCAA
Championships.
TCU finished fifth with a score of 892 in the 2000 NCAA West Regional, which
was held at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona. The score 892 is a
season-best for the Lady Frogs.
Angela Stanford (Senior-3L) - the lone senior on the team has a scoring
average of 74.8... she finished tied for fourth in the NCAA West Regional
with a season-best 54-hole total of 214...she has been selected to compete
on the 2000 United States Curtis Cup team this summer... she has won nine
tournaments in her career and has finished in the top-10 in 28 of 43 career
events.
