Women's Soccer Knocks Off UTEP 3-0

FORT WORTH, Texas (October 1, 2000) -- The TCU women's soccer team defeated the Miners of UTEP on Sunday afternoon, October 1, by a score of 3-0. The win evened TCU's overall record for the year at 6-6-1 and their Western Athletic Conference record at 1-1-0. UTEP fell to 4-7-0 overall on the season and 0-2-0 in the WAC.
The Frogs first goal came eight minutes in to the game when freshman midfielder Jenny Swanson scored on a deep pass from senior defender Jackie Rodriguez. For Swanson, it was her second goal of the season and later proved to be the game winner.
TCU's second goal came 27 minutes later when freshman midfielder Rebecca Repasky scored on a cross set up by sophomore midfielder Lori Robbins. The final goal was scored in the 44th minute of play, as sophomore foward Sherry Dick blasted a shot from 15 yards out that landed in the left corner of the goal. The goal was Dick's fifth of the year.
The Frog's freshman goalkeeper Shannon Wagner recorded eight saves on the way to her fourth shutout of the year. Wagner also lowered her goals against average on the season to 1.66 with the win.
TCU will take the rest of the week off and play their next match on the road against #18 SMU on Sunday, October 8, at 5 p.m. The Frogs have only two more home matches remaining for the 2000 season. Their next home match will be played on Friday, October 13, at 3 p.m. and their final home game will be against Fresno State on Sunday, October 15, at 12 p.m.
