Women's Soccer Falls to #16 SMU

DALLAS, Texas (October 8, 2000) -- The TCU women's soccer team fell to the SMU Mustangs on Sunday evening, October 8, by a score of 2-0 at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU. With the loss, the Horned Frogs fell to 6-7-1 on the year and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference. SMU improved to 10-3 overall and remains undefeated in the WAC at 3-0.
The Mustangs struck quickly in the first half, scoring just after two minutes had been played. SMU forward Lorrie Tipton stole the ball and with TCU goalkeeper Shannon Wagner out of position, scored to give SMU the 1-0 lead.
SMU's final goal came in the second half of play when midfielder Kim Harvey scored on a shot from ten yards out after Tipton once again stole the ball from TCU.
The Frogs will return home this Friday, October 13, to face San Jose State at 3 p.m. The women will then play their final home match of the year on Sunday, October 15, against Fresno State at noon. The Fresno State match will be the final home game for seniors Jennifer Maunder, Jackie Rodriguez, Tara Rudiger, and Christy Filice.
