Valerie Hairston is in her 11th year as the primary athletic trainer for TCU women's basketball as well as men's golf team in 2018-19.
A native of Houston, Hairston shares responsibility for the overall operation of the new Schollmaier athletic training room and physician offices, as well as coordinating athletic insurance. She also designs and implements screening, prevention and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes and serves as a preceptor for the education program while working as an adjunct professor in the Kinesiology department.
Hairston arrived at TCU after spending the previous four years at Villanova working with women's basketball and swimming and diving. Prior to her stint with the Wildcats, she attended Bloomsburg University to obtain a master's degree in Exercise Physiology while working as a graduate assistant.
Hairston received her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech and majored in exercise and sport science with a minor in biology. She is a nationally certified athletic trainer and licensed in Texas. She is a member of NATA, SWATA, CATS and District VI Board of Directors.
Hairston married her husband, E.J., who is the Director of Sports Medicine for the Waxahachie ISD, in the summer of 2011.
