PHILADELPHIA – TCU track and field is set to compete at the historic Penn Relays April 23-25 at Franklin Field.
A total of 16 Horned Frogs will have the opportunity to race in one of the most prestigious track & field events in the world this year, the 130th running of the Penn Relays. TCU has won 34 event titles in its history attending the meet, most recently the 2025 women's 4x200m relay, 2025 women's javelin throw by Irene Jepkemboi and three consecutive women's 100m dash wins (2023, 2024, 2025) by alumni Iyana Gray.
Additionally, 29 other TCU athletes will travel down to Waco to compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium on April 24-25.
Individually, the Frogs have eight top 25 marks nationally so far this outdoor season. For the women, Tia Williams boast the No. 15 400m hurdles time in the country at 56.60. Georgia Scott and Indya Mayberry also rank among the top performers in their events sitting at No. 22 in the 1500m and No. 23 in the 200m, respectively. TCU's women's 4x100m also ranks fifth in the NCAA this season and is one of six teams to go under 43 seconds (42.91). For the men, Jayden Douglas ranks seventh in the 400m hurdles after tying his own school record (49.81) at the Texas Relays earlier this month. Mohamed Kowa owns the No. 12 800m time, and Ben Kirbo is No. 25 in the pole vault.
Last weekend, TCU had a strong showing at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida. Kowa was exceptional on the track, posting the No. 2 800m and 1500m times in school history. He also secured the event title in the 1500m along with his teammate Scott, who won the women's race with a nearly six second PR. In the field events, Irene Jepkemboi made her outdoor season debut in the javelin throw, finishing second overall. The Kenya native launched a 52.26m (171-5) throw on her first attempt.
