Seventh-ranked Horned Frogs secure second top-10 victory of 2026
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 7 TCU reestablished its identity as the top tennis program in the Lone Star State in the capital city on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs rolled into Austin and rode away with a 4-1 victory over No. 2 Texas at the indoor Texas Tennis Center.
TCU avenged its 4-3 loss to the Longhorns on Feb. 14 in the ITA Indoor National Championships quarterfinals.
With the win, TCU (9-4) now holds victories over both the Indoor National Champion Longhorns (13-5) and 10th-ranked Baylor as the 2026 season shifts outdoors.
As was the case in the first meeting between TCU and Texas, the Horned Frogs locked up the doubles point with comfortable victories on the top courts. The Longhorns returned fire, claiming five opening singles sets before leveling the match at 1-1. Roger Pascual gave TCU the lead for good via a 6-0, 7-6 (8) sweep of Mariano Dedura-Palomero on court six. Duncan Chan and Oliver Bonding both rallied from a set down on courts two and five, respectively, to secure the victory. Chan earned the match-clincher, as the nation's No. 9 ranked player battled past No. 37 Sebastian Eriksson, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3.
The result marked the fifth time in the last four years TCU has taken out either the nation's No. 1 or No. 2 ranked team.
TCU has now claimed three of its last four duals vs. Texas and improved to 32-36 all-time vs. the Longhorns. Saturday's match was TCU's 13th battle with its biggest rival since 2023. TCU is now 7-6 opposite Texas over the last four years.
The Horned Frogs also halted a three-match losing streak, the program's longest in six seasons, with the result.
Doubles Rundown
TCU altered all three of its doubles pairings, yet the result was one it routinely receives.
The Horned Frogs elevated Chan and Cosme Rolland De Ravel, tabbed No. 8 in the latest ITA doubles rankings to the 1-line. The duo delivered, coasting past No. 13 Sebastian Gorzy and Lucas Marionneau 6-2.
On court two, sophomores Albert Pedrico and Cooper Woestendick forged a partnership for the first time. It paid off in the form of a 6-4 takedown of Eriksson and Abel Forger to secure the doubles point.
Oliver Bonding and Maximus Dussault led Evan Burnett and Jonah Braswell 5-4 at the bottom when play was stopped.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel remain unbeaten at 15-0 as partners. They picked up their 10th dual doubles victory and notched their third win over a nationally-ranked pair.
Woestendick clinched the doubles point for the second time this season vs. Texas. His seven doubles victories in 2026 trail only Chan and Rolland De Ravel for the team lead.
Bonding and Dussault played together for the first time since anchoring court one in TCU's season-opening win against Abilene Christian on Jan. 11.
