No. 5 TCU holds on for 4-3 victory over No. 22 Florida in Gainesville
GAINESVILLE, Florida – TCU survived a grueling dual in the swamp and emerged with its second straight top-25 road win.
The fifth-ranked Horned Frogs prevailed 4-3 over No. 22 Florida on Tuesday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Center in a match that was decided via a third set tiebreaker on court two in singles.
Again, it was TCU's highest-rated player, Duncan Chan, who pushed the Frogs over the finish line. Chan, the ITA No. 9 ranked singles player, rallied past Lorenzo Claverie 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (4) for the decisive point.
Playing its first outdoor match of the 2026 campaign, TCU (10-4) claimed the doubles point – its 13th of the season – and built a 3-1 lead. The Gators (7-8), though, split the opening singles sets and won courts three, four and six to render Chan's match a winner-take-all affair.
"Duncan Chan," said head coach David Roditi. "Man, I don't know. This season is going to kill us. Every match seems to be just a war, and we knew that coming into the year. Young team, and we got lucky today."
For Chan, it was his second match-clincher in as many outings and eighth of his career. The junior polished off a 4-1 win over then-No. 2 Texas on Saturday in Austin, Chan is now 4-1 for his career in clinching scenarios with a match tied 3-3.
TCU entered the match having generated 70 percent of its singles points (23-33) on the middle and bottom courts. This time around, it was strength at the top that proved to be the difference for the Horned Frogs.
Three of TCU's four points were generated on courts one and two in singles and doubles.
Cosme Rolland De Ravel pushed TCU within a court of victory, rallying from a set down on the 1-line vs. Henry Jefferson, 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-0. He and Chan, tabbed No. 8 in the latest ITA rankings, clinched the doubles point behind a 7-5 victory at the expense of Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn.
Rolland De Ravel, who transferred to TCU for his senior year from Old Dominion, notched his 100th career doubles win.
Oliver Bonding downed Nirundorn, 7-6 (4), 6-4 on court five for the Horned Frogs' second point.
TCU secured its first-ever victory over Florida in Gainesville. The Frogs are now 6-4 all-time and have won three straight matches vs. the Gators.
The midweek affair was TCU's sixth straight dual away from home. The Horned Frogs conclude their three-match SEC road trip on Friday vs. No. 12 Georgia. TCU overpowered the Bulldogs 4-1 on Jan. 26 in Fort Worth during ITA Kickoff Weekend.
TCU picked up its sixth victory over a team presently featured in the top-35 of the ITA rankings.
Doubles Rundown
TCU controlled the doubles point from start to finish despite needing both courts at the top to secure a 1-0 head start.
The Gators claimed the first court, as Andreas Timini and Kevin Edengren knocked off Bonding and fellow freshman Maximus Dussault 6-3 at the bottom.
The lead on the scoreboard was misleading, though.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel raced ahead 4-1 while Albert Pedrico and Cooper Woestendick landed a double break on court two.
Pedrico and Woestendick built an insurmountable 4-0 advantage before finishing off Claverie and Pablo Perez Ramos 6-4.
Tied 5-5, Chan and Rolland De Ravel landed a second break point on a deuce to separate from the Gators' top pair for good.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel remained unbeaten at 16-0 overall and 11-0 in duals.
Pedrico and Woestendick played together for only the second time. The sophomores debuted as partners on Saturday in Austin and clinched the doubles point vs. the Longhorns.
TCU has still yet to lose on court two in doubles in any match this season.
