Frogs will be competing for their fourth national title
FORT WORTH – The No. 4 TCU women's rifle team is set to compete in the 2026 NCAA Rifle Championships in Columbus, Ohio, marking its 20th consecutive appearance at the national event. The two-day event begins Friday with smallbore and concludes on Saturday with air rifle. The match will be held at the Covelli Center.
Making the trip to Ohio for the competition are Marissa Fedora, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Rylie Passmore and Katie Zaun.
TCU has four national titles in program history. In 2010, the Horned Frogs became the first-ever all-female squad to take home the National Championship. They did so again in 2012, 2019 and 2024. In 2013, the squad took home their first-ever Smallbore National Championship. They added a smallbore title in 2019. The Frogs own five Air Rifle titles (2010, 2012, 2021, 2022 and 2024). Sarah Scherer is the only Horned Frog to take home an individual title, doing so in smallbore in 2010 and 2012.
The Horned Frogs qualified for the championships in third with a team total of 9,490.33). TCU ranks second nationally with a team aggregate average of 4,737.71, second nationally in smallbore (2,354.71) and third nationally in air rifle (2,383.00).
TCU secured its NCAA Championship berth with a 4,741 aggregate score in the NCAA Qualifier against Air Force. Zaun led the team with a 1,189 aggregate, followed by Passmore (1,185), Hillinger (1,184), Hogan (1,183) and Fedora (1,181).
Zaun, one of the nation's top shooters for the entirety of her career, ranks in the top 10 nationally in both disciplines and is third nationally with a 1,189.50 aggregate season average. She is the No. 3-ranked shooter in smallbore (592.14) and No. 7 in air rifle (597.36). Zaun has fired a 597 or better in air rifle in 11 matches and a 590 or better in smallbore 10 times.
Passmore has had an outstanding sophomore campaign. She was the PRC Smallbore Champion and sits 17th nationally in season aggregate average (1,182.87). She boasts a season smallbore average of 588.60. On eight occasions, she has eclipsed the 590 plateau in the discipline. In air rifle, she has a season average of 594.27.
Hogan, a veteran of the championships, has had a solid senior campaign. She boasts a 595.13 air rifle average and a 585.00 smallbore average. She has set career highs in smallbore (592) and air rifle (598) this season.
Hillinger has also been a consistent shooter, averaging a 595.00 in air rifle and a 584.27 in smallbore. She has set a career-high this season with a 590 in smallbore and has fired a 597 or better in air rifle six times.
Fedora will make her championship debut after a strong sophomore season. She is averaging a 594.47 in air rifle and a 585.50 in smallbore. This season, she has set career highs in both disciplines – 592 (smallbore) and 598 (air rifle). She has fired a 597 or better in air rifle four times.
The Frogs will compete against Alaska Fairbanks, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Navy, Nebraska, Ole Miss and West Virginia.
