No. 5 TCU rolls to 4-0 win on the purple courts
FORT WORTH – TCU's final tune-up for the ITA Indoor Nationals lasted all of about 90 minutes.
The fifth-ranked Horned Frogs pitched a clean scoresheet in a 4-0 shutout over Tulsa on Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (7-1) did not drop a single set in a dual that saw eight Horned Frogs play at least one match. The Frogs rested the top-half of their singles lineup – Duncan Chan, Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Cooper Woestendick – following Thursday's 4-1 triumph over No. 19 Baylor.
"Great performance," said head coach David Roditi. "We were worried about playing a big match against Baylor last night. Big win, came out today, and they were all business. Even took it a step further. So, as a coach, couldn't be prouder. Now we just have to get ready for Indoor Nationals in Waco. Who knows? We'll probably play Baylor again. It'll be tough."
The doubles point was highlighted by a 6-0 bagel in the No. 1 line by Oliver Bonding and Cooper Woestendick over Calum Jestin and Connor Doig. Bonding stretched TCU's lead to 2-0 with an efficient win on court two in singles, before the Horned Frogs put the match to bed with victories on courts four and six from lefties Roger Pascual and Maximus Dussault.
TCU moved to 49-5 overall and 26-2 at home on the indoor courts over the last five seasons with the victory. Friday's win signified the Frogs' 23rd shutout on the indoor courts since 2022.
Doubles Rundown
While Bonding and Woestendick were busy bageling Tulsa's top pair, TCU's 22nd-ranked tandem of Duncan Chan and Cosme Rolland De Ravel ensured the doubles point was drama-free.
Facing Timothy Carlssen Seger and Nikita Volanski on court two, the undefeated pair saved a deuce point tied at two games apiece. Chan and Rolland De Ravel then landed back-to-back break points to finish off a 6-2 win.
Dussault partnered with Albert Pedrico on court three. The tandem was on serve trailing Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble 4-5 when play was stopped.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel clinched their second doubles point in as many nights and third of the season. They improved to 11-0 overall and 6-0 in duals.
Bonding and Woestendick notched their fifth straight victory dating back to ITA Kickoff Weekend in January.
TCU has yet to lose on court two or three in doubles play thus far.
The Horned Frogs won their 20th straight doubles point on the indoor purple courts and remain unblemished in doubles play this season.
