Edmonds has 15 points and 13 rebounds for his ninth double-double
MANHATTAN, Kan. – TCU continued its recent trend of closing out games by scoring 10 of the game's last 13 points in Saturday's 77-68 win at Kansas State.
The Horned Frogs (19-10, 9-7) won for the sixth time in seven tries, the best seven-game stretch for any TCU team in Big 12 Conference play. It was also TCU's third sweep of a Big 12 team this season, which prior to this season had only been done in 2018.
Xavier Edmonds recorded his ninth double-double of the season, all coming in the last 11 games, with 15 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds. The junior scored eight of his points in the final 5:09 of the game.
The Horned Frogs, which led for the entire second half, held a two-point advantage, 67-65, with 4:44 remaining. TCU went on a 10-2 run to go up by 10 points before KSU scored the final point of the game on a free throw. The Horned Frogs made five of its last seven field goal attempts yet didn't make one in the final 2:56.
Kansas State (11-18, 2-14) was forced into 18 turnovers while TCU had eight, its 10th game this season with single-digit turnovers. Brock Harding finished with four steals for the second-straight game to go with eight points and a team-high six assists.
For the seventh-straight game, TCU outrebounded its opponent. This time it was 36-31, which included 11 offensive rebounds.
Joining Edmonds in double figures were David Punch with 13, Liutauras Lelevicius with 12 and Tanner Toolson, who had 14 points to eclipse 1,000 for his career.
TCU will next play at No. 16 Texas Tech for a 6 p.m. game on FS1.
