Horned Frogs grab two victories in doubleheader
FORT WORTH – In a pair of matchups against two in-state foes at home, the TCU women's tennis team collected two triumphs over Rice and UT Arlington on Sunday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU did not drop a single court on the day, securing 4-0 victories over both teams it faced. Only three sets went against the Frogs in both matches, with all three occasions coming against Rice. Yu-Chin Tsai had an undefeated day in singles play, as she was the only TCU representative to earn two singles wins in the two victories.
MATCH ONE RECAP
Doubles Rundown
TCU was able to control momentum throughout doubles play to take the first of two doubles points on the day. Both tandems of Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson and Cayetana Gay and Tomi Main won their doubles matches, 6-2, to give TCU a 1-0 lead heading into singles win.
In a test against the 26th-ranked doubles pairing in Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte, the 74th-ranked Frog duo of Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai were tied 4-4 when doubles play concluded.

The Frogs did not skip a beat in singles play, as TCU was able to grab the three matches it needed in order to sweep the Owls. However, Rice provided a slight bit of resistance throughout, as three of the six singles matches went into three sets.
The first singles triumph of the day came from Tsai, as she posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Francesca Maguina. Gomez O'Hayon would follow, defeating Bakaityte, 7-6(4), 6-2.
With TCU holding a 3-0 advantage and multiple courts up for grabs, Cristina Ramos Sierra was able to settle in and earn a tough 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory to secure the clinching point for the Frogs.
Caballero Chica, Jackson and Gay were in the midst of their singles matches before the showdown against the Owls concluded and their results went unfinished.

The same firepower that TCU saw just a few hours ago did not go anywhere, as the Frogs were able to breeze through doubles play with minimal resistance. In a new-look ordering of the lineup for the Frogs, Caballero Chica and Jackson grabbed a 6-0 victory at the top spot and Gay and Main secured a 6-1 win on court two to secure the doubles point and quickly move things into singles play.
Letizia Corsini and Natalie Salkova, making their dual match debut, were up 5-2 before the doubles point was clinched and their bout went unfinished.

Tsai would close out the day's proceedings, defeating Mladentseva, 6-0, 6-4.
The match would continue for a few minutes following Tsai's victory, but Ramos Sierra, Main and Salkova's matches would all still go unfinished as the showdown ended with a 4-0 ledger in favor of TCU.
