
Rifle Opens Weekend With Solid Score

Zaun leads all shooters in the match
FORT WORTH – No. 4 TCU opened a busy weekend with a strong score of 4,734 for a first-place finish in a triangular match against No. 9 Alaska Fairbanks and No. 20 UT Martin. The Horned Frogs boasted five of the top 10 aggregate scores in the match.
Katie Zaun led all shooters, firing an aggregate score of 1,193. Rylie Passmore matched her career-high and finished fourth after shooting a 1,185. Alexandra Rosenlew rounded out the Top 5 with a 1,181. Marissa Fedora's 1,180 was eighth while Mackenzie Kring finished 10th with an aggregate of 1,175.
Three more Frogs turned in solid aggregate scores on the day. Micah Hames set a season-high with a 1,174 (585 smallbore, 589 air rifle). Annie Downum also set her season-high, shooting a 1,172 (575 smallbore, 597 air rifle). Brooklyn Reams set a career high with a 1,157 (566 smallbore, 591 air rifle).
TCU posted three of the top five smallbore marks en route to shooting a 2,356 in the discipline. Zaun led all shooters with a 595. It's the seventh time this season she has eclipsed the 590 mark. Passmore made it four straight matches with a 590 or better as she tied her career-high with a 592 to finish third. Rosenlew rounded out the Top 5 with a 589. Mikole Hogan and Christina Hillinger each fired a 580 as counters.
While not factoring in the team score, Hames matched her career high with a 585, which was 10th-best in the match.
TCU turned in five of the Top 8 marks in air rifle as it shot a 2,378 in the discipline. Zaun's 598 led the field. Fedora's 595 was sixth, while Hogan contributed a 593 and Hillinger a 592 to the team score.
Annie Downum matched her career high with a 597, which was the second-highest mark in the match. Kring's 596 was fourth among shooters, while Passmore's 593 was eighth.
TCU, UT Martin and Alaska Fairbanks will square off again on Sunday on the Alaska Fairbanks campus. Sighting for the first of three relays is set for 10:45 a.m. (CT).
