
TCU Turns In Top Marks Sunday

TCU first Top 10 program marks in both disciplines
FORT WORTH – The No. 4-ranked TCU women's rifle team turned in a solid performance in both disciples in picking up a 1st-place finish over Alaska Fairbanks and UT Martin. The Horned Frogs aggregate mark of 4,750 is tied for the fifth-best score in program history.
TCU shot a 2,361 in smallbore, mark that is tied for the sixth-highest in program history, while the 2,389 in air rifle is tied for the eighth-best score in program history.
The Horned Frogs boasted five of the top 10 shooters in the match. Katie Zaun led all shooters with an aggregate mark of 1,193. Marissa Fedora turned in a career-high 1,188 to finish third. Ryle Passmore (1,184) finished seventh followed by Alexandra Rosenlew (1,184) and Mikole Hogan (1,181). Micah Hames turned in a season-high 1,178 aggregate.
In smallbore, the Frogs fired four of the top 10 marks in the match. Zaun's 595 was tied for the top score. Fedora fired a 590 to finish fourth. It's the third time this season she has reached the 590 plateau. Passmore contributed a 589 and Rosenlew a 587 to the team score.
Not factoring in the team score was Hames, who fired a career-high 586. Brooklyn Reames also fired a career-high 571 in the match.
Six of the best air rifle scores came from the Frogs. Zaun fired a 598 which was matched by Fedora, who tied her career-high with a 598. Christina Hillinger's 597 was sixth-best in the match. Rosenlew also contributed a 596 to the final score to finish eighth among shooters.
Annie Downum and Makenzie Kring each fired 596s to finish ninth and 10th, respectively.
Alaska Fairbanks posted the top smallbore score in the match, shooting a 2,362 in the discipline. The Nanooks added a 2,385 in air rifle for a final score of 4,747. Teagan Perkowski fired a 595 in smallbore to finish first. Noah Meierotto's and Saide Paffrey's 599 were the top scores in air rifle.
UT Martin fired a 2,292 in smallbore and a 2,337 in air rifle for a final score of 4,629.
TCU will host its final home match of the season on Jan. 31 when UTEP makes the journey to the TCU Rifle Range. The Horned Frogs will honor their three seniors during the match.
