No. 3 TCU hosts Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in must-see match
FORT WORTH – Two titans of college tennis will collide on Thursday when No. 3 TCU hosts fifth-ranked Virginia at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs and Cavaliers have won three of the last four NCAA Championships, with TCU claiming the crown in 2024.
The contests marks the first time TCU has hosted a top-five program on the indoor courts since 2022.
TCU has won three straight vs. UVA, most recently outlasting the Cavaliers in a thrilling 4-3 dual in the 2025 NCAA quarterfinals. The Horned Frogs defeated UVA 4-1 on Feb. 13, 2022, in the teams' last meeting in Fort Worth, then earned a 4-2 decision over the Cavaliers five days later in the first round of the ITA Indoor National Championships. TCU went on to capture its first national title following its victory over UVA.
The Frogs and Cavaliers each have eight players with universal tennis ratings greater than 13.00.
Thursday's match begins a home-and-home deal that will send TCU to Charlottesville in 2027.
First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.

The Horned Frogs and Volunteers have squared off on a near-annual basis during the indoor season since 2022, with TCU enjoying a three-match winning streak. The last matchup between the programs was one of the great indoor duals in recent TCU history. TCU and Tennessee converged on the purple courts on Feb. 4, 2024, and were ranked No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. The Volunteers built a 3-1 lead and had match point on TCU, only for All-Americans Jake Fearnley and Lui Maxted to level the affair with near-simultaneous clinches on courts one and five. Tomas Jirousek clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph on six.
