PROVO, Utah – A triple-double from Olivia Miles and one final win courtesy of TCU women's basketball put a bow on 2025 for Horned Frogs athletics.
Miles notched her fourth triple-double in her last five games, tallying 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists vs. BYU as No. 8 TCU overpowered the Cougars 72-48 on Wednesday at the Marriott Center.
With the performance, Miles moved to third outright in NCAA history for career triple-doubles with 10. The only players with more are Sabrina Ionescu (23) and Caitlin Clark (17).
Miles also overtook Baylor's Brittney Griner for the Big 12 single-season triple-doubles record. Griner posted three over the course of the 2009-10 campaign. Miles recorded four in just 25 days time.
The New Jersey native now owns four of TCU's eight all-time triple-doubles. Prior to the commencement of the 2025-26 campaign, there were just three in TCU women's basketball history.
The Horned Frogs moved to 14-0 and matched the longest single-season winning streak in TCU men's and women's basketball history with the victory.
Though TCU scored on its opening possession and held the lead from start to finish, the bulk of the game was a grind it out affair. The Horned Frogs led BYU (12-2, 1-1 Big 12) by just three points, 41-38, with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter. TCU never led by more than eight points in the first half.
The Frogs ripped off a 26-7 extended scoring run over the ensuing 11 minutes to bury BYU. TCU held the Cougars to just four field goals over the final 14 minutes of the ballgame and eight fourth quarter points.
Miles was one of five Frogs to score in double figures.
Clara Silva paired a team-high 15 points – nine of which came in the second half – with seven rebounds.
Marta Suarez and Taylor Bigby tallied 12 points apiece.
Veronica Sheffey pitched in a season-high 10 points across 14 minutes off the bench.
Sheffey was a sparkplug for TCU late in the first half. She racked up nine points before the intermission
The Horned Frogs drilled five 3-pointers in the first quarter and assumed a 23-18 lead. From there, though, TCU managed just four points through eight minutes in the second period and nursed a 27-23 lead with 2:08 to go before halftime.
Sheffey scored six unanswered on consecutive possessions via a three from the left key and a trio of free throws after drawing contact on a second attempt behind the arc. The senior snapped a 4:52 scoring drought for TCU.
Bigby, Hunter and Silva accounted for 27 of the Frogs' 39 second half points. All three players scored nine.
TCU assisted on 18 of its 24 makes from the field.
Bigby and Sheffey single-handedly staked TCU to a 22-7 edge in bench points.
The Horned Frogs once again lived up to their billing as one of college basketball's best defensive outfits.
BYU shot just 30 percent (18-60) from the field and committed 17 turnovers against eight assists.
The Cougars became the seventh opponent TCU has held under 50 points this season. The Horned Frogs have held BYU below 50 points in each of their last two head-to-heads. Combined with TCU's 79-47 rout of BYU on Feb. 11, the Frogs have held the Cougars to their two lowest point totals in the last two seasons.
Sydney Bernally led all players with 18 points while reigning Big 12. Freshman of the Year Delaney Gibb added 14 to pace BYU.
