
Corsini, Tsai Win Consolation Final, TCU Concludes Battle in Bay Classic

SAN FRANCISCO – A newly formed doubles pair won the consolation final as the TCU women's tennis team wrapped up its first fall competition at the Battle in the Bay Classic hosted at the California Tennis Club.
To get things started on Thursday, Raquel Caballero Chica and Cristina Ramos Sierra won back-to-back matches on Thursday and Friday to book their spot in the doubles semifinal. Their second victory was a triumph over the 15th-ranked pairing in the country of Lily Fairclough and Emma Charney from USC.
Yu-Chin Tsai and Letizia Corsini dropped their first doubles showdown in the main draw but quickly switched their focus to the consolation draw. The duo earned three consecutive victories to win the doubles consolation bracket and end the weekend on a high note.
Caballero Chica and Tsai each posted a win in the singles main draw throughout the week's events. Corsini, who dropped her first matchup in the main draw, advanced all the way to the consolation semifinal after two victories on Friday and Saturday.
A total of four individuals earned wins throughout the course of the weekend, with two of those being newcomers on the squad. Caballero Chica earned two singles and doubles wins while Tsai earned two singles victories and a handful of triumphs on her doubles run with Corsini.
The newcomers, Corsini and Ramos Sierra, were the two individuals who posted wins in their first fall action as Horned Frogs.
