Morgan Brown’s late-game heroics lead Horned Frogs past the Longhorns
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 4 TCU women's soccer team, thanks to a goal by Morgan Brown in the closing minutes, defeated Texas, 3-2, on Thursday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
THE RUNDOWN
The Horned Frogs (4-0) and Longhorns played in an action-packed first half full of multiple momentum shifts. Texas was able to strike first, scoring off a penalty in the eighth minute thanks to a handball inside the box from TCU.
In the 20th minute, AJ Hennessey lofted in a ball to Morgan Brown who headed it over to Kamdyn Fuller. The freshman was able to field the ball right near the goal line and head it in to equalize the game at 1-1.
With the final 10 minutes of the first half nearing, Marli Galdamez went on a solo run and nearly put one in the back of the net. Her shot was batted by the Longhorn goalie, right to Kaela Martinez, who put it in the back of the net for her first career goal. The Frogs would head into half leading 2-1, outshooting Texas, 11-7.
To open the second half, the Longhorns were able to equalize the game at a 2-2, capitalizing on a corner kick. Each team would trade energetic bursts in the opponents back half, with neither being able to capitalize despite multiple close calls.
