Becomes third Horned Frog in three weeks to win a conference weekly award
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer's Morgan Brown has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Brown was the hero for TCU in its road victory over Texas, scoring a game-winning header in the 85th minute of action off a cross from Kamdyn Fuller to give the Frogs a 3-2 edge over the Longhorns. This was the Wylie, Texas, native's first goal of the season and fifth for her career.
The points did not stop there for the sophomore midfielder. In the 20th minute, AJ Hennessey crossed in a ball to Brown who placed a beautiful headed ball that went right to Fuller who put it away to level the score at 1-1. This was the third assist for Brown this year and the fifth of her career.
Brown was one of five TCU players to be on the field for the full 90 minutes of game action last Thursday, joining Olivia Geller, Seven Castain, Cameron Patton and Georgia Leb.
This marks the third different Frog to take home a Big 12 weekly honor this season, and this accolade is the first conference weekly award of Brown's career.
TCU's triumphant win over Texas was the Frogs' first victory over the Longhorns in Austin since 2009.
Catch Brown and the rest of the fourth-ranked TCU women's soccer team in action on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium as the Frogs are set to play host to Northwestern.
