Freshman brings home the first conference honor for TCU this season
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer freshman Kamdyn Fuller has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The conference accolade is the first for Fuller's young career and the opening league honor for the Horned Frogs this season.
In her collegiate debut, Fuller put two goals in the back of the net, marking the most goals scored by a TCU freshman in a game since Sarah Melcher tallied two in a 5-1 win over Kansas in the Big 12 Quarterfinals on October 30, 2022.
The Southlake, Texas, native recorded her first career goal in the 20th minute of action after the Pepperdine goalkeeper batted a Seven Castain cross, then followed up with a header in the 58th minute off a pass placed in the box from Cameron Patton.
Fuller also tallied an assist against Pepperdine, bringing her point total to five – a mark that is tied for second in the Big 12 and ranks first among first-year players. The freshman's other conference rankings after the first week of action include second in the Big 12 with two goals scored and sixth in the conference with four shots.
Against UTSA, Fuller was on the pitch for 74 minutes, providing numerous chances for the Frogs in their 1-0 win over the Roadrunners.
Seventh-ranked TCU will hit the road to face No. 9 Iowa on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Big Ten Network.
