Preseason honors conclude as TCU is set to open its season tonight
FORT WORTH – A trio of TCU women's soccer players have been named to the US Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Hermann Trophy Watch List, the organization announced Thursday.
Seven Castain, Bella Diorio and Katana Norman are three of 43 women's college soccer players who were honored with the distinction. The Horned Frogs are one of two teams nationally to have three individuals tabbed to the Hermann Trophy Watch List, as fellow Big 12 foe Colorado also had three representatives collect the preseason accolade.
Castain earned Fourth Team United Soccer Coaches All-American honors after starting and appearing in all 23 games and notching 13 goals last season. The 32 points scored by the Draper, Utah, native during the 2024 campaign is good enough for the third most in program history. Castain currently sits in
Diorio, one of the seven returning players who was named a Hermann Trophy semifinalist last season, is coming off a productive sophomore campaign where she earned US Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American and Big 12 Forward of the Year honors. The Lockport, Illinois, native scored 11 goals and had four assists for 26 points after playing and starting in all 23 games for the Frogs.
Norman, who played for Portland the past three years, was named to the 2024 United Soccer All-West Region and earned First Team All-WCC honors. She has started 55 of her 57 games played in her career, amassing over 4,600 minutes on the pitch.
The 2025 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-American Council from a list of returning 2024 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 2 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
