Frogs are 3-0 in Big 12 play

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team defeated the Houston Cougars in a 4-0 sweep on Friday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.

LEE'S THOUGHTS
"Our competition has slowly had an uptick the last 4 matches and I'm happy our players have incrementally grown in their confidence and competitive stamina. The doubles point was tighter than it needed to be, but the positive is that it gave us some pressure filled doubles that we didn't have the last 3 matches. Helena was brave on the match point and executed a poach as good as you can. Everyone came out ready in singles and we got off to a fast start. Credit to Houston for sticking around and fighting back, but Maya, Raquel, and Tomi closed it out well to get us off the courts with a 4-0 win. Looking forward to taking on a solid UCF team Sunday and continuing to build belief with this team."

THE RUNDOWN
The match started in doubles, where No. 23 Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual earned their fourth win in a row with a 6-2 victory on court one. Helena Narmont and Yu-Chin Tsai secured the doubles point for the Horned Frogs as they won 6-4 on court three over Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten.

In singles, the Frogs stayed hot as Maya Drozd defeated Gabriela Cortes in straight sets on court six. Raquel Caballero improved to 3-1 on court two and 5-2 in singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Iva Sepa.
Tomi Main clinched again for TCU, this time with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court five over Sophie Schouten.

This is the Frogs fourth sweep in a row, the most consecutive sweeps since January 2022 where they also swept four teams in a row. A win on Sunday against UCF would give them the hottest start in Big 12 play since they joined the conference.
