
Horned Frogs Complete Midweek Sweep

FORT WORTH – A quartet of TCU pitchers guided the Horned Frogs to a 4-0 win over UTRGV Wednesday night at Lupton Stadium. The shutout was the first for the Frogs as they completed the midweek series sweep of the Vaqueros. Zack James tossed five shutout innings in the win.
The Rundown
Zack James (3-0) gave the Horned Frogs five strong innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out four. Kaden Smith tossed a scoreless sixth. Nate Stern struck out the side around a pair of walks in his lone inning. Mason Bixby allowed two base runners and struck out two in his two innings on the mound.
Offensively, the Frogs were held in check until the fifth. Anthony Silva led off the frame with a double. A walk to Jack Bell followed. With two outs and both runners in scoring position, Sawyer Strosnider lined a triple off the left field wall to make it a 2-0 lead. Cole Cramer followed with an RBI single.
The Frogs tacked on another run in the sixth, taking advantage of a lead-off walk to Arthur. With the bases loaded, Brody Green grounded into a fielder's choice to drive in the fourth run of the game.
TCU's pitching quartet held the Vaqueros to eight base runners in the game. Twice UTRGV had two runners one, but it could never advance a runner past second base.

500 – Tonight's win was the 500th victory at Lupton Stadium. TCU is 500-174 all-time at Lupton since it opened in 2003.
