
TCU Drops Opener At Houston

HOUSTON – A seventh inning run for Houston proved to be the difference as TCU dropped a 3-2 decision Friday night at Schroeder Park. Tommy LaPour turned in his fourth quality start of the season.
The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring in the first inning. Sawyer Strosnider tripled with one out and scored on a two-out base knock by Noah Franco.
Houston took a 2-1 lead in the third. Back-to-back walks with two outs proved costly as the Cougars got a two-out double to right to drive in both runners.
Two-out walks to Strosnider and Cole Cramer in the fifth put the tying run in scoring position. Franco picked up his second RBI of the game with another two-out single to tie the game.
Another two-out double proved to be the difference in the game. A one-out single in the seventh had the go-ahead run on base. Coby DeJesus' pinch hit double just inside the first base bag drove in the eventual game-winning run.
The Frogs had a chance in the ninth after Anthony Silva singled and Karson Bowen walked with two outs. A wild pitch had both runners in scoring position, but a strikeout ended the game.
Tommy LaPour was solid in his fourth quality start of the season. He allowed two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out six in the no-decision. Braeden Sloan (2-1) took the loss after giving up a run on two hits. He struck out four.
